The MacBook released in October of 2015, in 3 colors, Silver, Space Gray, and Gold. In 2016, it was released with new processors and a new color, Rose Gold, much like the iPhone 6S. In June of 2017, it was updated again with newer processors, along with all the other Macs. My full review and thoughts are below.
Tech Specs: Colors: Silver, Space Gray, Gold, Rose Gold Storage: 256GB, 512GB Display: 12 in Retina LED Backlit Display, supports millions of colors. Processor: 1.2GHz dual-core Intel Core m3 (256GB), 1.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 (512GB) Memory: 16GB of Memory FaceTime Camera: 480p Camera
Display: The display on the MacBook is phenomenal. It is gets so bright, and the colors are so vivid and crisp. 12 inches is actually much bigger than some people think, and it fits a lot of information on it at once. Sometimes, though, I have a problem when I open my MacBook that the screen goes all pixely and fuzzy, for like a second, and then it goes away. I think this is because I have a folder with like 3,000 photos, so it just sometimes lags, but otherwise, this display is amazing.
Battery: The battery on the MacBook is ok. It isn't like a 12 hour battery life, which I wasn't expecting in a computer which is 1/3 centimeter thick, but I think I would have expected a little more. Its around a 4-5 hour battery life. I think there is 2 reasons my computer has a smaller battery life:
I think when it was shipped over, something came loose inside, because you can hear something rattle sometimes
I have a HUUUUGE file on my computer, which can take up some battery life
Either way, I might try to get it fixed, or just fix it myself. Anyways, its a good battery life.
Charging: The charging on this computer is much faster than I expected. I had read reviews that said that charging took awhile, but for me it takes probably an hour to get to 100%. It charges using a USB-C (Thunderbolt 3) port, and its the only port, beside the headphone jack, on the MacBook. It actually provides for a minimalistic look, but it is sometimes a little annoying to have to grab my adapter to plug my phone into the MacBook. Sometimes it will heat up though, buts that just because it has no fan.
Keyboard and Trackpad: The keyboard and trackpad were kinda redesigned for the MacBook. Lets start with the keyboard. It his a full sized keyboard, stretching from one end to another. But thats not all thats changed. The keys have changed, too. They have something called the Butterfly Mechanism. When you press down on the keys, they move only slightly down, and now they aren't wobbly when you click them. It feels really good, and also they are really big keys, which means it is even easier to type. Also, each key has its own backlight, so its even brighter. Now, the trackpad has changed too. Instead of the Dive-board trackpad, where you can only click on the bottom, you can now click anywhere on the trackpad. And much like 3D Touch, you can hard press even further on the trackpad to access things, like when you Force Touch on a word, it shows the definition.
Prices: 256GB: $1,299 512GB: $1,599
Overall, the MacBook is a great computer, and it's really small and compact, and much, much lighter and easy to carry. Although the battery life isn't awesome, everything else makes up for it.
